最近，定制男裝品牌CUFFS創辦人Ian Fong遠卦倫敦參加有份提名最佳新零售概念獎的WGSN’s Future Awards頒獎禮。雖然鎩羽而歸，Ian表示這個經驗非常寶貴。「我覺得我們好像代表了香港的定制服裝界，而且能認識到來自20多個國家、熱愛時裝的人，真的非常高興。」
人在英國，Ian絕對不會錯過參觀薩維爾街─傳統英式裁縫業的發源地的機會，一探這些傳統是如何被帶到香港發展起來的。所以，他帶着奇華蛋卷走進了Huntsman，與聯合首席剪裁師Dario Carnera談起了定制服裝業。「原來倫敦的時裝學院會把畢業生送到薩維爾街，而年輕人都對定制商品很感興趣。可是，香港的優質裁縫傳統正逐漸式微。行業沒有迎來新血，現在超過九成的西裝是被送到內地制作的。」 Ian 如是說。

香港的工藝與裁縫業的式微，不僅令人婉惜，更是一種文化瀕危。可是，Ian對男性定制成衣傳統的活化仍然保有希望：「我覺得這個運動由我們開展，然后你會發現香港現在有更多人在意衣着造型了。」沒有人能夠否認香港定制男裝的悠久曆史與英國有着密不可分的關系，希望「保育傳統」這個美好的趨勢也可以由倫敦傳到香港。
