BRAND & DESIGNER INFO
Derek Chan, the brain behind DEMO, walks the fine line between science and art, as he finds a balance in the brand that he established in 2013. Creating “contemporary classics”, his designs are a cross between sartorial traditions and modernity. DEMO rejects the complex rules assigned to menswear today while preserving a nostalgic sentiment. Utilising the soft edges of womenswear silhouette and pairing it with DEMO's own progressive detailing, Derek has managed to dismantle gender's strict barriers.
COLLECTION CONCEPT
I AM A BOY
Derek Chan wants to express DEMO.’s brand concept fully through this presentation. As a brand dedicated to creating “contemporary classics” inspired by the 1940s and 1950s, DEMO. features a softer masculinity and modern elements such as waterproof fabrics and bold colours, giving classic designs a new twist. Iconic fashion looks are playfully recreated. The mismatch between the nostalgic setting for the presentation and life in the 21st century offers an interesting glimpse into DEMO.’s brand concept.

Aries Sin established MODEMENT in 2010. For years, she has been crafting a unique unisex style for both genders by using minimalist cutting and unconventional silhouettes. She is strongly influenced by the multi-faceted culture of Hong Kong, ranging from the hybridised city landscape to vernacular food stores. It is of essence to MODEMENT that every single piece of clothing carries a meaning of its own which inspires, communicates and finally enhances the wearer. MODEMENT opened its first stand-alone store at PMQ this year.
COLLECTION CONCEPT
Sunset to Dawn
According to the Book of Genesis, God created the heaven and the earth, and called the light “day,” and the darkness “night.” He was the master painter who used the sky as a canvas. Inspired by the beautiful sky she saw during her travels in Europe, Aries Sin attempts to portray at this presentation the changing sky from dawn to dusk. The pieces, which are rich in colour and handcrafted detail, are to be appreciated like paintings.
