“People love what other people are passionate about.” This is what La La Land, the musical blockbuster that recently swept the board in awards season tells us. This theory also applies to the world of fashion, which explains why we love to see our Hong Kong Young Fashion Designers’ Contest (YDC) alumni achieve with extraordinary collections. Kevin Ho, winner of Party and Evening wear Group in YDC 2015, also an emerging designer of the industry, represented Hong Kong at the Asia Fashion Collection (AFC)’s show in Tokyo last year and during the New York Fall/Winter 2017 Fashion Week.

Together with six other young fashion designers from Japan, South Korea and Taiwan, the Hong Kong representative revealed his latest collection during Asia Fashion Collection NY on 11 February. Namely Supermatism, the designer embraced his roots with a display of contrasting fluid and structured elements. Applying the draping techniques against form-fitting cuts, Ho created asymmetrical dresses that are made from wool, leather and silk. The distinct feminine silhouettes keep things sexy and edgy while maintaining a considerable level of class and good taste.

Over 350 guests including the press and buyers came from all over the world to attend the show and applauded the rising talent from Asia. The AFC is undoubtedly a cradle for Asia’s next top designers, by constantly discovering and incubating talents with support from Vantan Inc. and PARCO Co. Ltd.
