The prevalence of fashion updates and social media posts has led to the over exposure, of the “Big Four” Fashion Weeks, i.e. New York, London, Milan and Paris. Unique perspectives and customised fashion updates are in huge demand, no matter you are practitioners in the field, or fashion-conscious members of the public. Organised by Osage from 17 to 22 January, HK|Runway! Promises to deliver an alternative to display fashion by juxtaposing fashion, design, art, dance, architecture and technology.

The Osage Art Foundation was established by Osage Gallery, which has branches in Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai and Singapore. HK|Runway! is part of the foundation’s art- mission to bringing  a novel fashion feast with support from the Hong Kong Design Institute and the School of Creative Media, City University of Hong Kong. The six-day event comprises three sections – Fashion as a Performance, Fashion as a Business, and Fashion as a Community – to promote Hong Kong as the world’s top fashion capital and Asia’s creative hub..

Fashion as a Performance features an opening performance, incorporating mixed media and interactive projections to present the works of fashion designers from the Hong Kong Design Institute, with scenographic design installations by Tobias Gremmler, photogrammetry captured by Benny Woo, music curated by Giorgio Biancorosso, music composed by Chan Sze-rok, exhibition design by Michael Arellanes II and choreography by Nina Habulan Gelladuga and Proceso Seguismar Gelladuga II. Fashion as a Business infuses artistic and architectural elements in the exhibition booths, creating a new fashion viewing experience. Fashion as a Community is open to the public, enabling the designers to share their thoughts to the public and fostering a creative atmosphere in the community.

HK|Runway! also serves as a platform for young designers to display their works. Ten graduates of the Hong Kong Design Institute from 2014, 2015 and 2016 will showcase their latest works, and spotlight their potential through a graphic design project led by Anothermountainman, the design curator advisor.
